NY TIMES: When Games Can Take Years to Complete

This is an interesting article.  Chess moves are communicated over long distances — in less technologically savvy times often by handwritten mail or cablegram — and each player has days to make a move. Games can last for months or even years.  I thought that chess by mail correspondence was obsolete; I was wrong.
